Our History

The Logo

Al Larsen was a 17-year-old boy living in Mexico when the Mexican Revolutionary War broke out in 1912. He and his family fled to the United States, where Al eventually opened a small tackle/bicycle shop in Logan, Utah.

The Store

Bob Larsen grew up working in his father's sporting goods store, Al's Bike Shop. He and his brothers learned the ropes from their father and helped build the store into the biggest sporting goods store in Cache Valley.

Kris Larsen, Bob's son, eventually became the next president of Al's Sporting Goods. He and his father opened the next Al's location in North Logan in 1997. He continued to uphold the family's commitment to customer service, and the store continues to be a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts in Cache Valley.

Al's Sporting Goods has expanded throughout Utah and Idaho in recent years. In 2014, the company opened a new store in Logan, Utah, and in 2017, it opened a second store in Orem, Utah. The Orem store added over 70 new employees and helped Al's Sporting Goods reach even more customers.

In 2020, Al's Sporting Goods expanded to Idaho by opening a store in Idaho Falls. The Idaho Falls store is located in a prime location for outdoor enthusiasts, with access to biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing, and several national parks.

In 2023, Al's Sporting Goods opened two additional stores in St. George, Utah, and Boise, Idaho. These stores are located in areas with even more outdoor opportunities, helping Al's Sporting Goods to reach even more customers.

Despite its expansion, Al's Sporting Goods still strives to be a hometown sporting goods store. Employees are knowledgeable about the sports they sell and are committed to providing excellent customer service. Al's Sporting Goods is proud to be a family-owned business and is committed to providing a family-oriented shopping experience.
